Sometimes I overhear snippets of conversation I am not necessarily meant to be privy to. It is usually a pleasurable experience suddenly possessing knowledge which is not mine to have. This usually happens when I hear someone speaking in either Hindi, Urdu or Punjabi who doesn't assume that I also understand it. I feel connected to this person through language even if I don't know them. A part of them feels like home for some reason. It's funny how Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi will do that for me but not English, even though I grew up with all them being spoken more or less simultaneously.
