Salgado's photographs are monumental, epic, and moving. I find them incredibly beautiful and engaging. I think his ability to capture a sense of urgency is the most effective part of his work. I also like how his work is towards, or seemingly towards a social goal that is clear and apparent in his photographs without being confrontational. I think photography is my favorite kind of art to look at. I am just completely taken with how a good photograph can convince me of things much quicker and more directly than words could. I am not in any way discounting other forms of art. I just like the immediacy that a photograph employs.
